5 True Stories That Will Scare You to Death | Happy Halloween!

Have you heard the story of the boy who was crushed to death inside a garbage truck? It never happened? Or did so? Once in a while, a story occurs. A story so unbelievable, so scary, so horrifying, that there was no other freaking way it hasn’t been made up. However, it turns to be terrifyingly true. Here are not one but FIVE true stories which will bring chills down your spine. Happy Halloween!

#5 A Suicide to Remember

Your mother may have told you how dangerous sharp objects can be when used improperly? Well… David Phyall, age 50, certainly knew what he was doing when he cut off his own head with a chainsaw. Wait! What? Cut off his head with a chainsaw? Is this even physically possible? Turns out, it is.

The 50-year-old British man beheaded himself because he didn’t want to leave his repossessed home.

Being the only one who remained in the building after all his neighbours had already moved out, David took a desperate step that was going to cost him not only his safety deposit, but his head as well.

He tied a chainsaw to the leg of a snooker table, connected the “On” button to a timer, which was set on 15 minutes, took a stiff drink, laid with his neck against the saw, and…

…and the plan went off without a hitch, unfortunately.

#4 The Last Moments of a Cut off Head

If you are a fan of decapitation [WTF?], you will love this. There is evidence that your head remains briefly conscious after it gets cut off. Don’t believe? Well, first to prove that was Dr. Beaurieux. Back in 1905, in an experiment with the head of Languille who was guillotined for a committed murder, the doctor quite reliably proved that a decapitated head is capable of awareness and consciousness after being separated from the body.

More recent events also talk in favour of that statement. In 1989, a man lost his head in a car crash accident. His friend, who was also in the car, says:

“My friend’s head came to rest face up, and (from my angle) upside-down. As I watched, his mouth opened and closed no less than two times. The facial expressions he displayed were first of shock or confusion, followed by terror or grief. I cannot exaggerate and say that he was looking all around, but he did display ocular movement in that his eyes moved from me, to his body, and back to me. He had direct eye contact with me when his eyes took on a hazy, absent expression . . . and he was dead.”

Surely, this seems to indicate there was a brief moment of consciousness and awareness where the man’s living head had time to look and see his own beheaded body. Creepy, huh?

#3 Death in a Carpet

In 1984, three Columbia University students found a discarded, rolled-up carpet near the Columbia campus and decided to take it back home. A cheap decoration accessory? Hardly. More like a one-way ticket to a never-ending nightmare.

Once they took the carpet back to their dorm room, they unrolled it and discovered a sight of which even the bravest heart may flinch – a rotting corpse of an unidentified male with two bullet holes in the head.

This story rises one simple question. How the hell these three students from a highly elite university hadn’t noticed the stinky mass of decomposing flesh they carried in the carpet all the way home? Either all of them had severe snuffles or they were already used to a similar smell at their dorm. You decide.

#2 Saw-Style Bomb Collar

Have you watched the movie “Saw”? No! Well, the primary focus of the movie are the traps. Sick, convoluted traps, which serve the purpose of testing the victim’s will to live. In short, victims have one way to save themselves but usually end up in a painful, disgusting but at the same time attractive death. You get the idea, right? Now, what if I told you that a similar story has happened for real. As you can guess, it has a Saw-style end.

Brian Wells was a pizza deliveryman in Erie, Pennsylvania. On August 23, 2003, he received an order for a pizza delivery to an address of a lonely TV tower at the end of a deserted, dirt road. Now, most people would think twice before they go alone to a spooky place known to be deserted, but not Brian Wells. He went straight away.

What happened on that address no one knows with certainty, but we do know that around an hour later Wells enter a bank with a cane-like shotgun and a note demanding 250,000$… oh, and a triple-banded metal collar around his neck.

Unfortunately for Wells he wasn’t very good at robbing banks, and a moment later his hands were cuffed behind by the police in the parking lot. Brian explained to them that the “fancy” collar he was wearing was actually a bomb, and he was told to commit the robbery, otherwise he would be killed. But the cops didn’t get his words too seriously.

Half an hour later, police finally called the bomb squad, but it was already too late. A few minutes before the bomb squad arrived, the bomb detonated, blowing a fist-sized hole in Brian’s chest.

A list of tasks was found on Wells’ body, which should have been carried out in a set period of time before the bomb went off. However, it was later determined that Brian would have never been able to complete all the tasks on time to defuse the bomb even if everything had gone according to plan. He simply was doomed from the beginning.

You may feel better if you know that all responsible for putting the bomb collar on Brian Wells’ neck have been caught and charged.

#1 Crushed by a Garbage Truck

Remember what you were asked at the very beginning of this article? Have you heard about the boy who was crushed by a trash truck? Guess what? It’s a true story as well.

A boy from Luxemburg hid himself in a garbage container and decided to spend there all morning. Why? Because he was a teenager, and teenagers do “smart” things. Anyway, the boy was comfortably lying in his hideout, at least until the guys from the local rubbish removal company showed up and picked up the dumpster along with him.

The boy wasn’t noticed initially by the garbage men until he started to shout out loud when the container was emptied into the back of the truck. But by then it was too late. The crushing mechanism was irreversible once it had started. The workers could only stand beside the truck, listening to the screams and sound of snapping bones coming inside their truck.

This is not the only time when a man is crushed by a garbage truck. So, the next time you take out your garbage, be more careful. You don’t want to end up recycled, do you?
