Green Tile and Grout Cleaning Recipes For Your Bathroom
Cleaning the grout in the bathroom has always been a very unpleasant and time-consuming activity. It’s not easy to clean such a specific surface. Many people scrub for hours, and they are still not able to remove all the dirt from there. The truth is, that the proper tile and grout cleaning is best done using natural ingredients. Some natural cleaning solutions are a lot more efficient than all the chemicals and store-bought cleaners. To prove you I’m right, I gathered these green tile and grout cleaning tips for your bathroom, which will convince you that going green is the best option.
What will you need:
- Spray bottle
- Scrub brush or toothbrush
- A bowl
- Vinegar
- Baking soda
- Hydrogen peroxide
Vinegar. Fill the spray bottle with an even solution of vinegar and water. Shake it to mix the ingredients together and spray the surface you want to clean. Let the solution stay there for at least 5 minutes, and at best for about half an hour if you have time. After the time is up, get the brush and scrub the entire area thoroughly. You can also use a toothbrush, if you have nothing else available. After you’re done, rinse the entire area with hot water.
Baking soda. The second step to green cleaning your tiles and grout, is to use some baking soda. Get the small bowl and make a paste of baking soda and water in it. Dip the brush into the paste and apply it to the tile surface, and especially to the grout. Then spray the area with the vinegar and water solution once again. The vinegar will make the baking soda bubble, which will make the nasty dirt come right off. You can leave it to work for a few minutes, and then use the brush to remove all the leftover build-up. Then rinse everything with water. You should notice that the grout is already cleaner, and the tiles are sparkling. The baking soda has strong whitening qualities, and it can remove all kinds of dirt from many surfaces, which makes it perfect for green tile and grout cleaning.
Hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide is only used in case you really need it to clean some stubborn and visible stains or mould and mildew on grout. This simple solution will help you win this war for good. Just spray it on the stain or affected area, and leave it work for a few minutes. Then get the scrub brush and work on that stain until it gives up. Sometimes the stains are so stubborn, that you’ll have to repeat the process a few times, until you get satisfying results. If this doesn’t work after a few times, you can try to create a paste out of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Apply it on the surface, let it sit for a while, scrub and wash clean with warm water.
Regular maintenance. The best possible way to avoid the unpleasant scrubbing the bathroom experience, is through regular maintenance. This is easily done. You just need to spray your bathroom with the vinegar and water spray after you use it. You can label the spray bottle, so nobody gets confused. You don’t even have to spray it every single day – 2 or 3 times a week is more than enough. This way there will be less build-up and less scrubbing.
